Dr. Scott has a passion for treating pain and optimizing human performance. He has years of combined training and practice in acupuncture, including dry needling and electrostim. He believes a cause-based approach to pain management results in the best outcomes for patients. Alongside acupuncture, Dr. Scott works with his patients to address underlying inflammation with proper use of targeted nutraceuticals, good diet, and a proper stress management and exercise program.
Through education with the International Society of Sports Nutrition, Scott guides athletes of all levels in proper nutrition for performance and recovery from exercise, as well as for optimal recovery from injury or surgery.
Prior to pursuing a career as a naturopathic doctor, he studied Kinesiology where he earned a Bachelors of Science from San Diego State University and a Masters of Science from Wilfrid Laurier University. During his masters he studied and authored research on low back pain and shoulder pain. It was during his early studies that he realized his passion for understanding how the body moves and works, particularly how it relates to injuries and pain.
Scott played competitive hockey as a goalie from a young age through the university level, during which he sustained a number of knee injuries, back injuries and concussions. The people who helped him the most in his recovery process were those in the alternative health fields. This eventually led him to a career in naturopathic medicine. He believes that a multidisciplinary approach provides patients the best chance at a full recovery.
Outside of the clinic, Scott enjoys spending time outside year round with his wife and son. They love hiking, water sports, and spending time at the lake. Originally from Toronto, Scott feels at home in a smaller city with deep community roots.
